    COMPANY PROFILE

    Membrane Technologies is an innovative private company, owned by its senior management. It is specializing in production and supply of modular-based equipment and complete Plants for

    desalting of ground and brackish water,

    softening, conditioning, concentration of effluents and solutions,

    preparing water for chemical and pharmaceutical processes,

    electrochemical synthesis,

    treatment of wastewater

    employing Electrodialysis (ED) and Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) technology. Management, technical and engineering staffs of Membrane Technologies have more 20-25 years experience in R&D, design, production and implementation of water desalination technology. In the last 15 years Membrane Technologies installed ED Plants in various fields of application on the market of the CIS, Russia, Ukraine, Baltic States, South Korea and Chile. There are dozens of ED Units in CIS installed more than 30 years ago and still under operation.

    ELECTRODIALYSIS TECHNOLOGY AND IT'S ADVANTAGES

    Electrodialysis (ED) technology is based on application of electric voltage to the “stack” of anion- and cation- exchange membranes. Salty water flows between the membranes resulting in a movement of solution anions toward the anode and solution cations toward the cathode (see ED applications ). The anions can move freely through the nearest anion-exchange membrane, but blocked by the adjacent cation-exchange membrane. The cations move in the same way but in the opposite direction. The result is a low electrolyte concentration in one compartment and a high electrolyte concentration in the adjacent compartment. Therefore brackish water is fed into the dilution compartment inlet and potable water is obtained at its outlet. Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) is the same process, with the exception that the polarity of the DC power is reversed two to four times per hour. When the polarity is reversed the desalted stream and brine stream compartments are also reversed. Thus the EDR plant is operating in a self-cleaning mode extending the performance period between cleaning, and reducing the chemical cleaning requirements.

    The Unique Features of EDR Plants

    1. No Membrane Cleaning Stations must be installed

    2. No antiscalant supplies or dosing systems are required.

    3. Electrodialysis is a Reagent-free and chemicals-free process.

    4. Electrodialysis membranes do not require any special water pretreatment but the ordinary mechanical filtering.

    5. Reliability: operating life of ED membranes is up to 5 years and more. The working period of ED Plants is practically unlimited.

    6. Electrodialysis Reversal (EDR) process employed in this Plant prevents the fouling of membranes by periodical interchanging the membrane environments from the scaling conditions to self-cleaning demineralization.

    7. No corrosion problems: waste and brackish water corrosion resistant materials are applied.

    TECHNICAL MAINTENANCE

    No daily maintenance. The annual maintenance (once/year) includes the dissembling of the membrane stack and washing of membranes with the diluted solution (2-5%) of HCl . The required annual volume of acid cleaner: 400 - 600ltrs.

    PRICING POLICY

    Electrodialysis process makes it difficult to indicate the cost of ED-Units or issue in advance the standard Price List of the equipment without knowing the parameters of feed water. The price generally depends on the initial concentration of salts (minerals), final requirements for product water and volumes to be treated. Each project will require specific type of equipment with individual technical parameters, having its individual price. Therefor, we recommend to start with the collecting of feed water parameters to prepare preliminary quotation. What we generally need is

    A/ initial characteristics (Chemical Analysis) of the client's feed water,

    B/ product water parameters (limits permitted) and

    C/ capacity required

    or You have to fill in the Questionnaire

    If clients don't have required information they will have to describe for what purpose the purified water will be destined. Basing on these data we shall be able to prepare the detailed technical offer and quote the prices in order to send it to our sales partner for the discussions with the potential customers. The visit of company’ technical experts and commercial representatives for the detailed talks with clients is also possible. To secure the prompt starting of the business we are ready to deliver the first ED Plants for exclusively low prices and use them for demonstrational purpose. This is for promotion of other supplies and to show the advantages of ED technology: reagent-free process, low power consumption, low capital investments, reliability and simplicity in operation.
